Privacy Policy
This is a summary of what MeetHere stores and why, written to be actually readable.
What we store
- Your account: the phone number you sign in with.
- Your profile: display name, date of birth (used only to confirm you are 18+, stored as your age), bio, interests and photos you add.
- Your activities: title, emoji, description, photos, and an approximate location (see below).
- Chats: messages, photos and videos you send inside an activity's group chat.
- Your block list, and reports you file about other users.
- A device notification token, so we can send you push notifications.
- Crash diagnostics if the app crashes (device model, OS version and the crash itself — not tied to your account).
Location
When you post an activity, its public map pin is shifted by a random distance of up to ~50 metres — other users never see your exact spot. The exact location is stored separately and is only readable by people you've accepted into the activity. Your device location is used to centre the map and to post at your position; it is not tracked in the background and is never stored on your profile.
How long things live
Activities and their entire chats expire and are deleted 24 hours after posting. Your profile stays until you delete your account.
Who can see what
Anyone signed in can see activity pins and public profiles (name, photos, bio, interests). Chats are visible only to accepted members. Your block list is private to you. Reports are only visible to the developers.
Deleting your data
In the app: Settings → Danger zone → Delete account. This removes your profile, your activities and your block list, and deletes your sign-in account. It cannot be undone.
Third parties
We do not sell your data, show ads, or track you across other companies' apps. We share data only with the services that make the app work:
- Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Storage, Cloud Functions, Cloud Messaging and Crashlytics) — hosts your account, profile, activities, chat messages and media, delivers notifications, and reports crashes.
- Our SMS provider — receives your phone number, and only your phone number, in order to deliver your sign-in code.
- OpenStreetMap — serves the map tiles. When you search for a place name, the text you type is sent to OpenStreetMap's Nominatim search service.
- Apple — handles MeetHere Pro subscription payments. We never see your payment details.
