Terms of Service
Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using MeetHere (the "App", "we", "us", "our"). By creating an account, signing in, or otherwise using the App, you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
1. What MeetHere is — and what it is not
MeetHere is a neutral technology platform. Our only role is to let people see what others nearby say they are doing and to help them start a conversation. We are a "middle-man" — an introduction and messaging tool, nothing more.
MeetHere does NOT:
- organise, host, supervise, attend, endorse or take part in any activity, meetup or event;
- verify the identity, age, background, character, intentions or trustworthiness of any user;
- conduct background checks or criminal-history screening of any kind;
- guarantee that any person is who they claim to be, or that any activity is real, safe, lawful or as described;
- control, and is not responsible for, the conduct — online or offline — of any user.
Every interaction and every meetup that arises through the App is arranged between users, at their own initiative and entirely at their own risk.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use MeetHere. By using the App you represent and warrant that you are 18 or older and legally able to enter into these Terms. Do not arrange to meet, or attempt to interact with, anyone you know or believe to be under 18.
3. Assumption of risk
You understand and agree that meeting strangers in person carries inherent risks, including but not limited to the risk of physical harm, emotional harm, theft, fraud, harassment, misrepresentation, illness or death. You knowingly and voluntarily assume all such risks.
You are solely responsible for your own safety and for your decisions about whether, when, where and with whom to communicate or meet. We strongly encourage you to follow the in-app safety guidance: meet only in public places, tell a friend where you are going, and stop any interaction that feels wrong.
4. Release and waiver of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, you release, waive and discharge MeetHere, its developers, owners, operators and affiliates (collectively the "Released Parties") from any and all claims, demands, damages, losses, liabilities, costs or expenses of any kind — whether direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive — arising out of or in any way connected with:
- your use of the App;
- the conduct, acts or omissions of any user, whether online or in person;
- any meetup, activity, communication or relationship initiated through the App;
- any injury, loss, damage or harm you suffer or cause in connection with the above.
You agree that the Released Parties are not liable to you for anything that happens between you and another user. Any dispute arising from an interaction or meetup is strictly between the users involved.
5. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Released Parties from any claim or demand, including reasonable legal fees, made by any third party arising out of your use of the App, your conduct, your interactions or meetups with other users, or your breach of these Terms or of any law.
6. Your conduct
You agree that you will not:
- harass, threaten, stalk, defraud, deceive, impersonate or harm any person;
- post hateful, violent, sexual, illegal or otherwise inappropriate content;
- use the App to arrange, promote or carry out anything unlawful;
- solicit money, run scams, or use the App for commercial or promotional purposes without permission;
- attempt to meet or contact minors, or misrepresent your age or identity.
You are fully responsible for the content you post and the messages you send. There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behaviour.
7. Reporting, blocking and enforcement
You can block any user (their content disappears and they can no longer contact you) and report any user from their profile. Reports are anonymous to the reported user. We may — but are under no obligation to — review reports and remove content or suspend or terminate accounts at our sole discretion. We do not promise to act on any particular report or within any particular time.
8. Ephemeral content
Activities and their chats are automatically deleted 24 hours after posting. The App is not a storage service; do not rely on it to keep anything you may want later.
9. Service provided "as is"
The App is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or that location data, pins or any information shown will be accurate.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the total aggregate liability of the Released Parties to you for any and all claims arising out of or relating to the App or these Terms shall not exceed the amount you paid us (if any) in the twelve months before the claim, or USD $50, whichever is greater. The Released Parties shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, goodwill or personal safety.
11. Changes to the App and these Terms
We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of the App at any time. We may update these Terms as the App evolves; significant changes will be announced in the App. Continuing to use the App after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms.
12. Termination
You may stop using the App and delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or terminate your access at any time, with or without notice, for any reason, including a breach of these Terms.
13. General
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in effect. These Terms are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the App.
By using MeetHere, you acknowledge that we are only a tool that introduces people, that you alone are responsible for your interactions and meetups, and that you meet other users entirely at your own risk.
